Woody Perfume Family

The Woody perfume family is characterized by its warm and often slightly bitter scent profile compared to other fragrance families. Perfumers frequently blend woody notes with other families such as citrus or floral to soften the bitterness and enhance overall appeal. The woody family can be divided into the following subfamilies:

  • Mossy Woods: This is the softest and most delicate woody scent. It combines mossy and earthy notes such as oakmoss, amber, and vetiver, creating a sweeter and more airy character compared to other woody subfamilies.

  • Woods: This subfamily represents pure woody scents with no additional embellishments. It is typically built around core notes such as cedarwood, pine, and sandalwood.

  • Dry Woods: This subfamily blends smoky and leathery notes to create a dry, intense woody aroma. Scents such as tobacco leaf, leather, and smoke contribute to a warm, smoldering character, offering a much drier feel than other woody scents.
