The Arctic fox, or snow fox, is a mammal that lives in the coastal regions of the Arctic Ocean and the snow and ice-covered tundra. Its fur is white during the winter to blend in with its environment, providing camouflage and enhancing hunting effectiveness. When winter ends, the snow melts, and trees begin to sprout leaves, the white fur is shed and replaced by shorter, grayish-brown fur, making it appear smaller while still effectively camouflaging itself in the other seasons.
